Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! So, how has your January been? Honestly, it feels like forever since I’ve written a blog post. Well, I don’t know about you, but 2019 has started off busy for me, but in a positive way. For starters, on the writing front, I have decided to:

• Continue my Renew Inspiration blog.
• Plan to write my first Renew Inspiration book.
• Strive to keep journaling, reading, writing, and meditating.
• Continue to write articles via Hub Garden.
• Pursue other freelance writing opportunities.

I have really enjoyed this blogging experience while connecting with you and have met so many awesome bloggers along the way as well. I felt it necessary to document my writing goals in a blog post to keep me grounded on what’s important in my life, right now, in this very moment. In addition, I want to be accountable to my overall writing career and make plans to reach all of these goals this year. Why now you ask? Because I feel it is my time and my season to enjoy my passion which is writing.

In addition to following after my writing dreams, shortly after the new year, I started a new part-time secretary job in an educational setting. If you know me, I have another passion which is doing administrative type work, such as typing, organizing/doing projects in an office setting, answering calls and resulting customer complaints, managing paperwork and/or online files, etc. This specific job proves that it is my time and my season as well. I was offered a full-time job after months of testing and interviewing, but I had to decline the offer due to family conflicts. Unfortunately, I have to drop off and pick up my children from school so I cannot work full-time hours at this time. Then, they offered me the part-time position right after I declined the full-time offer which was a total blessing for me and my family. This job opportunity allows me to work in an office environment (which I love), offers me an opportunity to work in an educational setting (which I have a passion for learning), gives me an opportunity to contribute to my retirement (which is a bonus) and offers me a flexible work schedule which is a WIN – WIN any way you look at it!

WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life. – Unknown Author

Well, as you probably already know, I have been pulled in so many directions in the last few weeks. I’ve been struggling to balance my work, family obligations and writing projects which are all dear to my heart. There’s so much information to learn when starting a new job. Quite frankly, it is totally stressful and difficult to find a healthy work-life balance that works for me while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Work-life balance can be defined as the balance that an individual need between time allocated for work and other aspects of life. Areas of life other than work-life can be, but not limited to personal interests, family, social or leisure activities.

TIPS TO MANAGE WORK-LIFE BALANCE

• Set realistic schedules and do not strive for perfection.

• Prioritize your health by eating healthier options, meditating and exercising.

• Build downtime into your schedule to relax, read, and update your planner.

• Make time for yourself. For example, schedule a spa da or day out with your friends.

• Rethink your errands and household chores. Don’t be afraid to delegate duties to others.

MY TO-DO LIST FOR TODAY

• Count my blessings and take nothing for granted.

• Practice kindness to everyone I come into contact with.

• Let go of what I cannot control, seen and unseen.

• Listen to my heart in every situation.

• Be productive throughout your day yet calm in your spirit.

• Just relax and breathe.

HOW TO COPE WITH ANXIETY

Your life only gets better when you do. Work on yourself and the rest will follow. – Unknown Author

Anxiety can be defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about something with an uncertain outcome. Often times, if not properly treated, a person could be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder which involves compulsive behavior or panic attacks. I realize that transition and change are sometimes difficult for us to handle throughout life. As you experience these type of situations, please remember, you are not alone throughout this process.

• Get enough sleep.

• Eat well and exercise.

• Organize life as much as possible. Example – plan meals, get clothes ready at night, etc.

• Ask for help when necessary.

• Avoid masking how you feel. Honesty is key.

• Make self-care a priority during the transition.

• Remember your strengths.

• Know that you are in control.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you. – Maya Angelou

Something to Think About – Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! There are many reasons why people start blogging. Some people start blogging as a hobby and for some people it’s a career. According to Dictionary.com, blogging is defined as a website containing a writer’s or group of writers’ own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites, a single entry or post on such a website.

MY STORY

I started my Renew Inspiration blog simply to inspire others using my own personal experiences, creative writing and research. But why? Well, when my mother passed away in December 2015 a piece of me left and never returned. I have lost other loved ones in the past, but losing your mother is a hurt that you just cannot explain. Unfortunately, I could not express how I felt so I became depressed and angry. I began writing how I felt every day. Then, someone told me to write letters to my mother expressing how much I missed her. Guess what? It worked. Shortly after I started journaling to help me cope with the grieving process. Writing became my passion and my coping mechanism. Eventually, I did seek professional help as well because my depression was getting worse and I even felt anxiety throughout my life as well. In January 2018, I decided that I wanted to take my writing to the next level. But how? I was surfing online and came across a Word Press and Blue Host ad. I clicked on it to find out more information and the blogger provided the necessary information to start my own blog. Setting up my Renew Inspiration blog was a challenging experience, but yet rewarding at the same time. Through this experience, I found my true passion, inspiring my supportive audience (that’s you) through writing in the form of blogging. So, thank you for believing in me and taking the time to visit my blog often. Remember, this experience is not complete without you.

WHY IS BLOGGING POPULAR

Blogging is popular these days for many reasons.

• First, search engines love new content, and as a result, blogging is a great search engine optimization (SEO) tool.

• Second, blogging provides an easy way to keep your readers, customers or clients up-to-date on what’s going on, let them know about new deals, and provide tips. The more a customer comes to your blog, the more likely they are to spend money.

• Third, blogging allows you to build trust and rapport with your readers. You are able to build your expertise and credibility on a subject matter. Also, you are able to interact with the readers in the comment section.

• Fourth, blogging is a way for some people to make money. Along with your product or service, blogs can generate income from other options, such as advertising and affiliate products.

• Fifth, blogging is flexible and portable, making it a great option for people who strive to become an entrepreneur.

DOWNSIDE TO BLOGGING

Blogging is popular because it is a great marketing tool and helps you make money, but it also has a downside.

• Blogging requires a commitment and takes a great deal of time to manage. For blogs to be effective at SEO and engaging readers, it needs to be updated regularly.

• Blogging involves creativity and you having a passion to write about things you enjoy. To keep the content flowing, you have to keep the readers engaged with awesome ideas, tips or suggestions.

• Blogging can provide income for some people, but the payoff is not immediate. One of the biggest frustrations with blogging is that it is time-consuming with little payoff in the beginning. It takes time to build up a readership and momentum.

HOW TO START A BLOG

The good news is that starting a blog or adding a blog to your existing website is easy and affordable.

Step 1 – Setting Up Blog

There are free blog options such as WordPress.com or Blogger, but to retain control and professional image, consider investing in a domain name and hosting, and installing WordPress or other content management system on your host.

Step 2 – Add Content

Once your blog is up and running, you need to keep it active with new and fresh content to grow your readership. I would suggest developing a set schedule for writing and posting to your blog.

Step 3 – Marketing

Great ways to reach your market are through social media, an email list and reaching out to other bloggers.

Step 4 – Add Income Streams

You can promote other companies’ products and services in affiliate marketing. Most companies, such as Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target and Kohls offer this program. You can also offer advertising or feed ad networks, such as AdSense, on to your blog.

Tips for New Bloggers

Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience. – Unknown

Thought for today – Great things never came from comfort zones.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Can you believe it has been 7 months since I launched my Renew Inspiration blog? I am proud of where I am today, but I realize there is always something new to learn about the blogging industry. There is so much information swirling around on the web that it becomes overwhelming to the average person thinking about jumping into the blogging game. It can be a scary experience throughout the entire blog launching process so to succeed it’s important for new bloggers to keep learning, be flexible, ask for help and be willing to adjust with the blogging industry.

Here’s some tips for new bloggers to think about before launching their new blog:

• Tip 1: Determine your niche – What is your passion? What do you want to share with the world? What is your specialty or your expertise?

• Tip 2: Identify your target audience – Who is your ideal reader? Write directly to them. Keep your readers wanting more from you with a strong headline and intro.

• Tip 3: Create clear and precise goals for your blog – Why are you blogging? For fun, a hobby, a business, to sell product or to monetize using affiliates? Write down your goals and make sure to reflect on them when preparing blog posts.

• Tip 4: Come up with a catchy blog title and tag line to get your readers attention. Then, create the perfect logo for your blog.

• Tip 5: Determine if you want to launch your blog using a free website or if you want to invest money in a company like WordPress, then a hosting company like Blue Host.

• Tip 6: Establish one or two social media platforms to focus on when you first launch your new blog. Remember, to share your new blog posts on all your social media platforms. Once you are comfortable, add more as you have the time.

• Tip 7: Have 2 or 3 really in-depth blog posts complete before you decide to launch your new blog. In addition, have more blog posts in various stages, such as drafts to be edited, outlines and topic ideas ready to write.

FREE TIPS FOR NEW BLOGGERS

Once you have launched your blog, it is important for you to stay engaged with your readers. I am going to be honest, engaged will mean different things for different people. For example, if you are selling product or a service, you need to respond to your customers on a regularly basis. However, some people are blogging just as a hobby, so your engagement may be less involved.

Here’s some tips to keep in mind once you have launched your blog:

Tip 1: Post consistently – Plan to post 2 to 3 times per week to stay engaged with your readers.

Tip 2: Use quality photos – Whether you take your own photos or pull photos from a free site, such as Pixabay or Pexels, make sure to use quality photos that are relevant to your blog post.

Tip 3: Discover your writing style – Start with a catchy lead, have a conversational tone through out your blog and ask questions at the end to get your readers engaged.

Tip 4: Write down your thoughts – When inspiration swirls in your head, write it down so you can reflect on it later. It is important to keep all your thoughts and ideas in one place for easy access during the writing process.

Tip 5: Social Media connections – Give your readers three or more ways to follow you. For example, Facebook, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

Tip 6: Comment on other blogs – Don’t be shy and be sure to write encouraging comments on other blogs. In most cases, the other bloggers will show your blog some love too.

Tip 7: Facebook Groups – Join some Facebook Groups to network, share your blog content, learn from other bloggers and to offer support to others who may just be starting out.

Be creative and always look for new ways to connect to your readers, but at the same time take it slow. Remember, you do not need to understand everything about the blogging process before you launch. I hope these tips give you something to think about from one new blogger to another. Good luck and happy blogging!
