Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! It’s been a long time since I have posted in this space. I’ve decided to share a special piece centered around healing and grief. Healing doesn’t ask you to forget what you’ve lost — it invites you to learn how to carry love forward in a new way. As you move through grief, notice the quiet moments where strength shows up disguised as softness, and hope returns in small, gentle waves. Your heart is learning to breathe again, even if the rhythm feels different now.
Grief reshapes your world. It touches every part of your life — your routines, your relationships, your faith, your sense of self. Whether you’re grieving a loved one, a dream, a season of life, or a version of yourself you had to release, the journey can feel overwhelming and unpredictable.
But grief also invites you into a sacred space of reflection — a place where healing begins slowly, gently, and honestly. That’s why I created Journal To Overcome Grief – A Personal Journey to Healing: a safe, faith‑rooted space where your emotions are welcome, your memories are honored, and your healing is supported with compassion.

UNDERSTANDING THE 5 STAGES OF GRIEF
If you don’t grieve the losses in your life, you get stuck at that stage. – Rick Warren
Grief is not linear. You don’t move through these stages in order, and you may revisit some more than once. These stages simply help you understand what your heart may experience as you heal.
- Denial — “This can’t be real.”
Denial protects you from the full weight of loss. It gives your heart time to adjust to a new reality. Journal Prompt: What part of your loss still feels unreal? Affirmation: I give myself permission to acknowledge my pain slowly and gently.
- Anger — “Why did this happen?”
Anger is a natural response to hurt. It may be directed at people, situations, or even yourself. Journal Prompt: What is your anger trying to tell you about your pain? Affirmation: My anger is valid, and I release it with compassion.
- Bargaining — “If only…”
This stage often brings questions, regrets, or wishes for things to be different. Journal Prompt: What “if only” thoughts are weighing on your heart today? Affirmation: I release the need to rewrite the past and open myself to healing.
- Depression — “This hurt so deeply.”
This stage reflects the heaviness of loss — the quiet moments when grief feels overwhelming. Journal Prompt: What sadness needs to be expressed instead of carried silently? Affirmation: I am allowed to feel deeply, and God meets me in my sorrow.
- Acceptance — “I am learning to live with this.”
Acceptance doesn’t mean forgetting. It means learning to carry love forward in a new way. Journal Prompt: What does acceptance look like for you today, even in small ways? Affirmation: I honor my loss while opening my heart to restoration.

AFFIRMATIONS FOR GRIEF & HEALING
Affirmations will help you to focus on improving yourself. You can spend 5 – 10 minutes in meditation, journaling, or yoga with mantras. Self-love, positivity, open-mindedness, help set you in the right direction. Designate a time in the morning and at night when you can recite affirmations aloud. By saying them aloud, you hear the powerful words, and it can help you internalize them as true. The key to seeing a positive change in life is to say the affirmations with conviction and make it a personal experience.
Use these affirmations during quiet moments when your heart needs grounding:
- I give myself permission to feel, to remember, and to heal.
- God is holding me through every wave of emotion.
- My grief is valid, and my healing matters.
- I am learning to carry love forward in a new way.
- Hope is returning to me, slowly and faithfully.
- I honor my loss while opening my heart to restoration.
- I am not alone — grace meets me right where I am
JOURNAL PROMPTS
I love journaling because it is a safe place for me to put my feelings and emotions into words, then put my words into action. Remember, journaling is your very own personal journey throughout life, your ups and downs, your successes, and failures. Journaling also allows for past reflection, future insight, and present surrender. Ready, set, write!
These journal prompts will help you explore your emotions, memories, and healing with compassion:
- What emotion is sitting closest to your heart today?
- What do you miss the most, and why does it matter to you?
- Write about a moment when you felt supported or comforted during your grief.
- What part of your story feels heavy right now?
- What memory brings both pain and beauty?
- How has grief changed you? What strength has emerged from that change?
- What do you need more of in this season — rest, connection, prayer, gentleness?
- Write a letter to your loved one or to the version of yourself you lost.
- What does healing look like for you today?
- What promise from God brings you comfort in this chapter?
