  • Strengthen your instincts
  • Calm your feelings and emotions

WARNING SIGNS OF BEING UNGROUNDED

Stay humble, stay grounded, remember what got you to that level and that’s hard work. – Tim Howard

Before learning how to become grounded in your life, it is important to learn and understand the meanings of grounded and ungrounded.

  • Grounded (adjective) – well balanced and sensible.
  • Ungrounded (adjective) – having no base or justification; unfounded.

Just like any major decision you make in life, becoming grounded within requires a level of commitment like no other. However, it’s important to know the warning signs of being ungrounded so you can make the necessary adjustments to your lifestyle.

Here’s a few warning signs of being ungrounded that you may experience:

  • Poor sleep patterns
  • Easily distracted
  • Daydreaming often
  • Constant fatigue
  • Over-think situations
  • Experience anxiety and perpetual worrying
  • Overly obsessed with your personal image

Keep in mind that there may be some overlap with other symptoms or health conditions which may cause a misdiagnosis.

 AMAZON RESOURCE #2

Unfortunately, many of us struggle to overcome obstacles in life and don’t understand that the root cause is often times hidden within. Whether you sometimes feel stressed out, anxious or depressed, there’s one important fact that you need to remember. You need to learn more about yourself and how you operate at your best. Your mind, body and spirit must become ONE in order for you to be at your best.

CALM MIND

Most people appreciate a calm mind only when under pressure, when they are worried or when they need to focus. However, it is important for you to find effective ways to help calm your mind regularly, such as:

  • Practice mindfulness
  • Stay in the present
  • Broaden your view
  • Try guided meditation
  • Reflect often and write in your journal

CALM BODY

Our bodies are made to move. Movement helps release tension, lift depression, and you get better sleep. Here’s some great ways to calm your body:

  • Fuel your body with healthy food options
  • Exercise daily (cardio, strength & stretching)
  • Try new yoga positions
  • Use effective breathing techniques
  • Go outside and get fresh air
  • Change your focus and environment
  • Listen to Music
  • Re-engage with like-minded people

CALM SPIRIT

If there is a need to calm your spirit, then you must first address the root cause of your stress. Once you complete this task, then you are ready to find better ways to calm your spirit:

  • Learn how to regulate your breathing
  • Pamper yourself (Take a warm bath, read a good book, and get a massage)
  • Practice meditation 15 – 30 minutes per day
  • Focus on gratitude and find what you are grateful for
  • Setup a daily routine (Use a To-Do List or Checklist)
  • Write in your journal

FINAL THOUGHTS

Even though we know how important it is to feel more grounded throughout life, it is difficult to do without feeling less stress and more confident. As we go about our day-to-day lives, it’s best to find what makes you feel grounded and calm. We all are different and unique, but I do know that our minds, bodies, and spirit must be as ONE in order for you to feel complete.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! I cannot believe we’ve celebrated the 4th of July already. Where does the time go? Despite the positive mindset I try to practice daily, it’s been real difficult trying to keep hope alive. Hope is another one of those words that can be defined on a personal level and may change from situation to situation; or person to person. According to the Webster Dictionary, hope is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen; a feeling of trust.”

But what does hope mean to you? Do you hope for anything great on today or in the near future? When I think of hope, I think of beauty and positive vibes. Hope is like a beautiful flower that thrives on sunlight and water. In a spiritual sense, hope relies on your daily commitment to God’s Word, meditation, and prayer.

HOPEFUL LIVING

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. – Albert Einstein

Hope is seeing light in spite of being surrounded by darkness. Sometimes in life, hope is all we have to hold on to. Believe it or not, hope is a necessary emotion that helps us engage with life. Hope is directly related to our sense of possibility. The greater our perception of possibilities, the greater our hope. Hope is what we feel when we think that life is worth living, when we are happy and thinking positive thoughts. Living a hopeful life is to recognize that everything and everyone matters, even you. Taking care of yourself matters.

Here’s some things you need to focus on:

  • Recognize that you can change your life at any time.
  • Look for meaning in the most challenging moments.
  • Conduct a hope audit of your life. How are you doing in health, work, family, relationships, etc.?
  • Shift your expectations and take good care of your health.
  • Have a stress reduction strategy, such as meditation, yoga, reading, or writing.
  • Create hopeful relationships and learn to forgive.
  • Help others see the best in themselves.
  • Develop a daily journal writing habit to release negative experiences and emotions.

Many of us need hope to look forward to the future. As you can see, it’s important to embrace hope in all aspects of your life. Unfortunately, when a person has lost hope it can be hard to find motivation again. Remember, happiness and optimism cannot exist without hope, but hope can exist without happiness or optimism. If we fail to reach our possibilities in life, then we experience a feeling of hopelessness and despair.

Then, take time to speak strength and keep shining throughout your journey.

Mind – An open mind; Meditation ready

SPEAK STRENGTH

Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you’re proud to live. – Anne Sweeney

What is the message that you need on today? What is it that you need to focus on within your life, right now, in this very moment? I’m stronger because I had to be, I’m smarter because of my mistakes, happier because of the sadness I’ve known, and now wiser because I learned.

Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates:

• Is it true?
• Is it necessary?
• Is it kind?

During our life long journey, it is important for us to speak strength into our soul. It is important for us to speak success into our inner being. Despite the hurt we may feel or the sadness we experience in life, often times we forget that the power to overcome life’s challenges is already inside us. If you feel lost or confused often, check to see if your heart and mind are working in harmony so will find peace.

MY TESTIMONY

Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear the path. – Unknown Author

Depression and grief may rise up within me from time to time, but I meditate on positive thoughts to overcome these negative feelings. Even though this time of the year is truly difficult for me, I’ve learned that no one can prepare you for the emptiness inside after losing a loved one. No words can comfort your heart after it is broken in many pieces. Often times, I look up at my mother’s picture and think about all of the positive memories that are carefully stored away in my mind and in my heart. Sometimes I shed tears. Other times I just pick up a pen and start writing.

Now, this is my testimony. What is your story or experience? It is important to allow yourself to feel and to express honestly. I survived throughout my journey because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me. I had to reflect on scriptures that are hidden in my heart in order to rise up above my problems, situations, depression, sadness, hurt, etc.

KEEP SHINING

I am totally safe and surrounded by love, light, peace and joy. – Unknown Author

Moreover, I plan to keep shining bright every day. How about you? Now, it’s important to note that the ways I keep shining may be different than yours on any given day, but the end result should be the same, we’re shining! Our lives should be an example and reflect positive vibes through the eyes of others. As we travel along this journey called life, we will experience some ups and downs. However, the way we respond to life’s challenges is the key to overcoming the obstacles that occur in our lives.

Here’s some positive ways to keep shining in life:

• Read God’s Word, pray and meditate.

• Smile and believe in yourself.

• Believe in the awesome person you’re becoming.

• Show kindness everywhere you go. Especially, to unkind people.

• Forgive people who don’t deserve it. Then, let it go.

• Acknowledge your patterns of stress and release them into the atmosphere.

• Move out of your comfort zone throughout your journey so you can grow.

• Allow yourself time to heal from life’s challenging moments.

• Be gentle and patient with yourself. Practice self-care routines.

• Love unconditionally. Find time for self-reflection and to write in your journal.

REFLECT ON LIFE LESSONS

Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny. -C.S. Lewis

Furthermore, every situation in life is meant to be temporary. When life is going as planned, make sure to enjoy every moment. And when life is not going as planned, know that it will not last forever and better days are sure to follow.

Here’s some great ideas to help you reflect on life lessons:

• Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can.

• Become more aware of what’s really worth your energy.

• If you want to know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders.

• Being happy doesn’t mean everything’s perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

• Knowledge is learning something every day. Wisdom is letting go of something every day.

• The only keeper of your happiness is you. Stop giving people the power to control your smile, your worth and your attitude. – Mandy Hale, SimpleReminders.com

As I get older, I realize that decisions become easier when your will to please God outweighs your will to please the world. I know that is a lot to accept at times, but it is truly a choice that we make each day. Know that your words, thoughts, and actions speak into your very existence throughout your journey. You don’t owe others nothing in life, but you owe everything to yourself. Examine your priorities and make the necessary adjustments in order to make time for personal growth. Remember, your actions will always reflect who you are so the closer you get to being who you are meant to be the brighter you shine!

JOURNAL PROMPTS

Breathe, darling. This is just a chapter. It’s not your whole story. – S.C. Lourie

Journaling is a powerful way to process events in your life, build self-awareness, get more clarity, and keep yourself on track. Journaling also allows for past reflection, future insight, and present surrender. Now, close your eyes and clear your mind. Be honest with yourself and be willing to feel the words within your soul. If you allow yourself to escape for a moment and answer the questions below, you may free yourself from emotional bondage. Keep in mind that this is a journey and everyone takes their own path. Ready, set, write!

• What do you want people to remember about you?
• What’s your biggest regret?
• What have you done to make amends and/or forgive yourself?
• If you could change just one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Here’s some steps for you to follow the next time you face a challenge in life:

• Step 1 – Spend time in a quiet place where you can be alone with no distractions.

• Step 2 – Light a candle to set the mood.

• Step 3 – Quiet yourself before God for a few minutes and then thank God for being present with you.

• Step 4 – Then, thank God for blessings in your life. This practice builds confidence that no matter what challenges you face in life, there are still blessings to celebrate.

• Step 5 – Now, make your request known to God. State your challenge and what you need.

• Step 6 – Ask God how you can honor Him in this situation. Pause. Be still and see what comes to you.

• Step 7 – Don’t try to process the thoughts. Just write them down and reflect on them later.

As you can see, we have to make our requests known to God and build our relationship with Him. As we read and study God’s Word we are reminded of God’s guidance throughout our lives. God is our Heavenly Father and God is our Shepherd who leads us daily.

• Live in the now. The fewer thoughts you have about your past or future, the more you’ll be present to your own inner spirit. Be realistic and determined all at the same time.

• Let go of control. Allow things to progress at their own pace so that you develop trust in the flow of life.

• Break old patterns. Simply breaking old habits one by one will begin to erode negative thought patterns and beliefs.

• Explore triggers to emotional highs and lows. It is important to avoid problems by identifying the root cause of your emotional challenges.

• Nurture yourself. Find time to be relaxed and happy throughout your day. For example, try meditation, getting a massage, reading a book, spending time in nature.

• Be determined to go back. Don’t make excuses. Instead, make a plan for returning to the workforce.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! I can really feel fall in the air these days. How about you? The mornings and nights in Michigan are in the low 40s. The colorful leaves are beginning to fall from the trees. On the home front my husband is still healing from his foot surgery so many days I am working, driving my sons around to school/appointments, going grocery shopping, running other necessary errands, and caring for my husband. Unfortunately, there’s very little time for me and this is not good for my mental health.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars. – Khalil Gibran

As I was researching over the weekend, I came across some information that I wanted to share with you. World Mental Health Day is observed on Thursday, October 10th this year. This is a day set aside for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma.

World Mental Health Day was first celebrated on October 10, 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. Since then, many supporters come to celebrate this annual awareness program on October 10th to bring attention to mental illness. Remember, treatment and support are available for those who need it, but the door to conversation must be opened and welcomed.
