Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Today, I want to focus on being totally grounded and secure. Despite what you have experienced throughout the week, be thankful that you are here today to speak about it, read my inspirational blog, and write reflections in your journal. However, in order to be totally grounded and secure, you must first practice mindfulness and use your senses to identify:

  • Five things you see
  • Four things you can hear
  • Three things you can touch or feel
  • Two things you can smell
  • One thing you can taste

This process will slow down the mind and allow it to be present in the here and now. Take your time with each sense, each observation, breathe, and try to stay objective.

Moreover, being totally grounded is the ability to be completely aware and conscious during the present moment. In other words, you are present in your life and not obsessed with the past or future. There are many grounded characteristics to strive for, but what matters most is individuals must be:

  • Unshakeable – Calm under pressure
  • Reliable – Show up, no excuses
  • Unwavering – Has higher standards
  • Humble – No need to impress others
  • Healthy Self-Esteem – Understand personal value & self-worth
  • Don’t worry – Willingness & capable to handle anything that happens in life
  • Don’t Conform, Instead Lead – Stand up for what’s right & willingness to stand alone
  • Encourage Others – Helping people reach their true potential

HOW TO LET GO OF THINGS FROM THE PAST

Next, allow yourself to release anything and anybody from your presence that do not help you to grow and flourish. Once you release, you will naturally enjoy fresh new beginnings in life that will allow you to grow and mature. Keep in mind that this can take time, practice and patience.

Here’s some effective tips to help you through painful experiences and let go of things from the past:

  • Create a positive mantra to counter the painful thoughts.
  • Create physical distance.
  • Do your own work.
  • Be gentle with yourself.
  • Allow the negative emotions to flow.
  • Accept that the other person may not apologize.
  • Engage in self-care.
  • Give yourself permission to talk about it and forgive.
  • Seek professional help, if necessary.

LET GO & RELEASE AFFIRMATIONS

Feel the feeling but don’t become the emotion. Witness it. Allow it. Release it. – Crystal Andrus

Finally, during your journey, create an environment to leg go and release using affirmations. This process will allow you to become more aware of your thoughts and words.

For example, today I release:

  • Anything that is no longer serving my higher purpose.
  • Anxious thoughts and experiences that no longer serve me.
  • Doubts and insecurities about myself.
  • Toxic thoughts and emotions.
  • Unhealthy relationships.
  • Thoughts of revenge and unforgiveness.
  • Everything and everybody who is no longer a part of the divine plan of my life.
  • All anger and frustration from my body.
  • The need to be seen and valued by others.
  • My past beliefs and negative thought patterns.

As you go through life, reconnect with your present self. Don’t be afraid to let go and release. Be kind to yourself and celebrate the small victories. Then, and only then, will you be totally grounded and secure in the life you have grown to know.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Despite what is happening in your life and around the world, you are destined to embrace happiness within. Let’s depart from this place for a moment and begin to visualize our journey to happiness. When it seems like you will not make it, take some time to reflect on positive thoughts and some of your personal accomplishments. Always remembering that storms may come and go, but what matters most is that you make it through the storm without wavering your faith.  We have to start shifting our thought patterns in a positive direction so we can regain control of our inner being. After all, our inner being defines who we really are as a person.

HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE

To begin with, it’s important to note that we must realize and accept the fact that happiness is a choice that we must make every day. Now, let’s focus on these concepts that will help us embrace happiness within:

  • Have a positive outlook on life. It’s quite simple. What we think about most, we become. This will take a lot of effort on your part, but once you conquer it, you will be much happier.
  • Believe in yourself. Get to know yourself and always stay true to yourself. If you don’t believe in you, then no one else will. Do not be an approval seeker.
  • Set and pursue personal goals. Identify what you are looking for in life. Then, set some realistic goals and pursue them. This process will increase one’s self-worth.
  • Practice gratitude daily. Be grateful and appreciate the simplest things in life. Make time to reflect every day and count your blessings.
  • Live in the present. Realize you have control over the here and now. Happiness does not exist in the past or future. Happiness exists in the now.

Living in the present moment is the only way to true happiness. Once you make the choice to embrace happiness within, you will need to work very hard to reach your full potential. Just like any change one tries to make in life, it’s going to take a commitment and discipline to overcome obstacles throughout the process.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Let’s begin this beautiful Sunday discussion on how to get engaged in God’s Word. Especially during this pandemic or any time of crisis, it is important to keep God’s Word in the forefront of our minds. As believers in God and Jesus Christ, we must schedule quality time to not only read God’s Word, but also to write down our personal thoughts about the verses read, determine how we can apply the verses to our own lives in 2020 and don’t be afraid to cross reference the information in the Bible Concordance.

PREPARING FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

Making time to read and study God’s Word is so important for your spiritual growth. God’s Word can help guide us in the right direction or make us rethink a situation before we pursue it further. Take a moment right now to analyze where you are today and then continue reading my list of suggestions that will help you prepare for your spiritual journey ahead.

  • Set a time to better engage in God’s Word and stick to your plan.
  • Gather your materials, such as Bible, Notebook, Journal, Pens, Highlighters, Dictionary, Bible Concordance, etc.
  • Designate a quiet space with no distractions.
  • You may want to play some soft music in the background to set a relaxing mood.
  • Make sure your study area is free of clutter and well lit.
  • Pray and meditate while studying God’s Word to open your mind and heart.
  • Speak to God often to strengthen your relationship and ask Him to direct your study time/spiritual journey.

Don’t be afraid to be creative. Be your own inspiration. After all, this is your spiritual journey. Make it as comfortable as you like, but also for growth purposes step out of your comfort zone from time to time to make it an unique and pleasurable experience as well.

BETTER ENGAGE IN GOD’S WORD

Our time spent reading Scripture, prayer, and meditation must alter us if we have truly experienced a spiritual encounter with God. After all, God has created us to interact and respond to His Word in multiple ways. We should all endeavor to engage in God’s Word throughout our lives and hold ourselves accountable.

Here’s five ways to better engage in God’s Word:

  1. Study – When we study God’s Word we are investing focused time in a passage word, character or theme. Study requires you to analyze the Scripture which takes concentration and focus. The primary goal of study is understanding.
  2. Devotional – The goal for devotional reading is application. Simply put, what the Scripture means to me. However, we must make sure this is not the only way we interact with Scripture or we risk losing the truth.
  3. Meditation – Meditation is the ability to hear God’s voice and obey His Word. During meditation it is important to fill your mind with Christ. The goal of meditation is reflection.
  4. Memorization – It is important to understand what Scripture teaches us so have God’s Word hidden in your heart and mind. Memorizing God’s Word helps us achieve the goal of discipline.
  5. Action – Clearly, we must be focused on doing what Scripture teaches. We must be changed and compelled into action, whether in our thoughts or our actions. Spending time in God’s Word must lead us to obedience.

So, as you can see, there are various ways to better engage in God’s Word. Keep in mind, you may not be able to engage in all of these ways each day but schedule your time to include all the areas of study, so you can have a better understanding of God’s Word. Remember, spending time studying God’s Word is our intentional determination to grow in our understanding and to strengthen our bond with Him. Even if you have not engaged in God’s Word in the past, take a leap of faith and start today.

Now, it’s important to note that the ways I choose to shine may be different than yours on any given day, but the end result should be the same, we’re worthy enough to shine! Our lives should be an example and reflect positive vibes through the eyes of others. For example, it seems like random people always offer me positive compliments regarding my smile or grateful compliments for the kind gestures that I showed them (holding the door open or just saying hello or good morning). Even when I am not feeling well or just simply having a bad day, I try hard not to reflect my negative vibes and feelings toward others. As we travel along this journey called life, we will experience some ups and downs. However, the way we respond to life’s challenges is the key to overcoming the obstacles that occur in our lives.

 Here’s some great ways to shine throughout your life during difficult times:

  • Read God’s Word, pray and meditate.

  • Be gentle and patient with yourself. Practice self-care routines.
  • Love unconditionally. Find time for self-reflection and to write in your journal.

Every situation in life is meant to be temporary. When life is going as planned, make sure to enjoy every moment. And when life is not going as planned, know that it will not last forever and better days are sure to follow.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! I cannot believe we’ve celebrated the 4th of July already. Where does the time go? Despite the positive mindset I try to practice daily, it’s been real difficult trying to keep hope alive. Hope is another one of those words that can be defined on a personal level and may change from situation to situation; or person to person. According to the Webster Dictionary, hope is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen; a feeling of trust.”

But what does hope mean to you? Do you hope for anything great on today or in the near future? When I think of hope, I think of beauty and positive vibes. Hope is like a beautiful flower that thrives on sunlight and water. In a spiritual sense, hope relies on your daily commitment to God’s Word, meditation, and prayer.

 Hope is seeing light in spite of being surrounded by darkness. Sometimes in life, hope is all we have to hold on to. Believe it or not, hope is a necessary emotion that helps us engage with life. Hope is directly related to our sense of possibility. The greater our perception of possibilities, the greater our hope. Hope is what we feel when we think that life is worth living, when we are happy and thinking positive thoughts. Living a hopeful life is to recognize that everything and everyone matters, even you. Taking care of yourself matters.

Here’s some things you need to focus on:

  • Recognize that you can change your life at any time.
  • Look for meaning in the most challenging moments.
  • Conduct a hope audit of your life. How are you doing in health, work, family, relationships, etc.?
  • Shift your expectations and take good care of your health.
  • Have a stress reduction strategy, such as meditation, yoga, reading, or writing.
  • Create hopeful relationships and learn to forgive.
  • Help others see the best in themselves.
  • Develop a daily journal writing habit to release negative experiences and emotions.

Many of us need hope to look forward to the future. As you can see, it’s important to embrace hope in all aspects of your life. Unfortunately, when a person has lost hope it can be hard to find motivation again. Remember, happiness and optimism cannot exist without hope, but hope can exist without happiness or optimism. If we fail to reach our possibilities in life, then we experience a feeling of hopelessness and despair.

Hope engages our creativity and our problem-solving skills. Hope helps us to appreciate life and everything life has to offer. After all, life always offers you a second chance. It’s called tomorrow. Don’t lose hope. You never know what tomorrow will bring!

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! I pray that you and your families are still healthy during this coronavirus pandemic. My message to you on today is to be patient and trust the timing. Trust the timing mentally, physically, and spiritually. Remove your expectations of when it should happen or what it should look like, and live in the present.

Now, repeat after me – I am in perfect balance. I am physically and emotionally connected and healed. I am free of worry and I am at peace with who I am. Every day I grow stronger and more relaxed. I love myself and life. Before moving on, take a moment and allow these words to resonate with you. Keep re-reading these words until you believe each and every word.

TRUST THE TIMING

To begin with, I know that you may not have all the answers right now, but the truth is none of us do. In life we all know that there is never a dull moment. Despite all of the unknowns in life, I still strive to trust the timing and want to encourage you to do the same. While it is easy for us to give up or to lose hope, I suggest for us to do the opposite. Dig deep down within to find the courage, the peace, and the strength to trust the timing in ways that will make you come out of this difficult time a better person.

Here’s a few ways to trust the timing within your life:

Be present. Take a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly. Focus on your breath and this will instantly bring you to the present moment. Notice that with every breath, things change within you and all around you.

Give thanks. Acknowledge where you are right now and what it took to get you there. Then, say THANK YOU from the heart for your life and for your family. Feel the gratitude for what has gone well and for the many blessings that are coming your way.

Be open and honest. Remember that life is all about learning and honesty. Be curious to experience a different way of doing or being, with yourself and with others.

Make time for reflection. Sit in silence to just be with yourself and your thoughts. Be honest about how you feel and what you’re thinking. Write in your journal for a few minutes everyday and gradually increase your time each week.

Have unwavering faith in yourself. Know that everything is unfolding as it should and one day, you’ll be able to look back and connect the dots. Recognize and celebrate small wins. Keep a journal to track your accomplishments and lessons learned.

Repeat a daily positive affirmation. Find or create a daily positive affirmation that resonates with you and what you want to embody. I’ve included a few of my favorites in the next section of this blog post.

As we cope with high anxiety, lots of worrying, and the stress of everyday life, it is important to keep our inner thoughts on positive and inspiring words of encouragement. Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! During this difficult time in our nation, all we can hold on to is hope. Hoping takes courage from deep within. Hope is another one of those words that can be defined on a personal level and may change from situation to situation; or person to person.

Moreover, did you know that having hope will give you courage in the midst of a storm? Despite what you may be experiencing in your life right now, never stop believing in hope because miracles happen every day. The importance of hope is immeasurable. Especially during dark times like we are facing now, many of us need to look forward to the future. Hope is what helps us deal with grief we often feel, find positives in our current situation, push us to continue searching for something better, and to have faith that everything will work out.

Let’s face it, most of us did not just wake up one day and have a successful career, a beautiful home, respectful children, a healthy fitness routine, etc. You had to first decide what you wanted to work on, then you had to plan, then you had to execute your plan into action. In reality, most people fail many times before they succeed so never stop hoping for positive change to happen in your life.

Here’s some ways to stay hopeful along your journey:

• Set realistic goals and incorporate them into your current lifestyle. You may need to rearrange your work schedule, ask for help around the house from family or friends, etc.

• Begin to visualize yourself after your goals are achieved. Take a moment and ask yourself what life looks like after the goals are reached, then spend a few minutes every day picturing yourself in that very same life.

• Evaluate your progress as you move through the steps you’ve identified as necessary to reach your goals and adjust your efforts as needed.

• Prepare for your journey. Look at what you’ve already achieved, think about your strengths, think about what’s important to you, and where you want to go in life.

• Set out on your journey. Build the knowledge you need to succeed, focus on the basics, set small goals and achieve them.

• Make time for self-reflection to examine one’s own thoughts, feelings, and sensations to gain better insight of one’s life.

Remember, hoping takes courage. Believe in yourself. Be brave and take risks. After all, nothing can substitute your true experience, whether it is positive or negative. So, keep hoping and praying for a positive outcome to happen in your life. Peace and blessings!

First, let’s take a moment to define journal and gratitude.

A journal is a reflection of who you are, it’s a repository for all of the things that interest and inspire you. A journal provides a safe environment to experiment with your writing style and technique. Simply put, when you write in a journal it becomes your personal journey of creative and heart felt thoughts.

Gratitude as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and return kindness. Simply put, gratitude changes everything. Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside no matter what you might be going through in life. Gratitude changes the way we start the day, spend the day, and look back on the day. For me, my day always begins and ends with gratitude. How about yours?

After all, journaling is a way to capture ideas and keep your dreams alive until you can put them in motion, right? Ideas can be found all around you. Take a moment and look around you right where you are. Inspiration is not required to knock at your door twice. We have to be ready and willing to do what’s necessary to grow, to learn, and most importantly, to be grateful.

5 TIPS FOR CAPTURING YOUR BEST JOURNAL IDEAS

1. Take your journal everywhere you go to capture those special thoughts or moments as they happen. If your journal is too big, you can always buy a small notebook to use while you are on the go. Then, transfer or glue your notes in your journal at a later time.

2. Select a journal that feels right to you. You can purchase a beautifully crafted handmade journal, a hardcover book with unlined pages, a softcover notebook with lined pages, a 3-ring binder with loose paper, or just a spiral notebook. It really doesn’t matter your style, just make sure that your journal feels right to you and you can comfortably use it to capture your thoughts.

3. Handwrite your journal entries so you are unable to edit your thoughts. Handwriting keeps things more spontaneous and also gives you clues about your emotional state. If you’re anything like me, you can tell what you’re feeling just by analyzing the state of your writing.

4. Create an informal table of contents in the beginning of each journal. Number each page and try to list the topics covered as you go along. This makes finding stuff a lot easier down the road or when you just want to reflect on some of your past writings. Don’t worry about doing this each time you journal, but make sure to complete this step before starting your next journal.

5. Don’t worry about format, grammar, or spelling. Remember, this is your personal space and a written account for how you feel right now in this very moment. Don’t worry about following your traditional writing rules, just write.

A gratitude journal is a diary of things for which one is grateful. Gratitude journals are used by individuals who wish to focus their attention on the positive things in their lives. Start a gratitude journal to include a personal reflection (goals, thoughts, feelings), affirmation, scriptures, poems, quotes, kind gestures (writing notes, letters, or making phone calls). Be creative and honest. This process will change your life in a positive and uplifting way.

Here’s some tips to help you start a gratitude journal:

• Choose a journal or notebook that will inspire you to write. You can purchase a journal or make a it. Some people prefer lined pages and other people prefer unlined pages. It’s up to you.

• Determine when you’ll write. When you want to create a new habit, the easiest thing is to do it together with something you’re already doing in your life. For example, add journaling to your morning or bed time routine. Yes, it is that simple.

• Use journal prompts to help you get the most from your journaling experience. When you use different journal prompts, you will quickly learn which gives you the best feeling and inspire you to change. Note – I include journal prompts at the end of each blog post.

• Connect with the emotion. When you experience that feeling, write down what you’re grateful for and enjoy the feeling of gratefulness. Be open and honest throughout the process.

• Do what works for you. Remember, there are no rules to follow. Try it throughout this difficult time and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

On the other hand, have you ever just sat down in a quiet place and allowed yourself to think without interruption? This process is called self-reflection. It’s really important to spend quality time in self-reflection mode whether you have all your stuff together (you think) or you’re still trying to find your way (most of us).

DEFINE SELF-REFLECTION

Self-reflection is a humbling process. It’s essential to find out why you think, say, and do certain things…then better yourself. – Unknown Author

Before moving forward, I think it is important to understand what self-reflection is before you can commit to practicing it on a regular basis. Self-reflection can be defined as meditation or serious thought about one’s character, actions, and motives. To take it a step further, you must be willing to learn more about your fundamental nature, purpose, and essence of life.

Now, take a moment and look in a mirror. What do you see? You see a reflection of who you are on the outside. For example, you notice your physical facial features, the color of your skin, your hair color and style, etc. However, self-reflection is not only your outward appearance, but it is a way of assessing yourself deep within – mind, body, and spirit.

As you begin to practice self-reflection in your life, you will notice a shift in your mindset, an increase of positivity in your life, and discover a deeper connection within.

Here’s some healthy ways to practice self-reflection throughout your journey:

• Peaceful Walk in Nature – Calms your mind, body and spirit.

• Prayer and meditation – Take a moment to quiet your mind, read a scripture, pray, and meditate. Allow your mind, body, and spirit to only connect with God so you can hear His voice.

• Yoga and exercise – Every day is important to do some form of yoga and exercise. Movement gives you more energy and helps keep you healthy.

• Reading inspirational books – Reading keeps your brain healthy, but reading inspirational books also keeps you in a positive mood.

• Read Blogs and Inspirational Books from other Writers – Allows you to be supportive while gaining different perspectives and finding fresh thoughts/ideas.

• Reciting positive affirmations – Reciting positive affirmations will give you hope and encourage you to focus on your goals/dreams.

• Spend Time Researching and Brainstorming – Helps you learn new information; Knowledge is Power.

• Writing or journaling – Writing is a form of self-expression. Capture every moment of your life in a journal so you can pause to reflect on the good times and make changes to avoid bad situations.

• Drawing and painting – Showing your creative side will help to open your mind to different aspects of life. You become calm and relaxed as if you have no care in the world.

• Listen to Classical, Instrumental, Jazz or Gospel Music – Helps to calm and relax you.

• Try a Hobby – Allows you to enjoy something you are passionate about.

• Vision board – Create a vision board so you can have a road map to success. Be creative and use pictures from magazines or from online, quotes, goals, etc.

What is the message that you need on today? What is it that you need to focus on within your life, right now, in this very moment? I’m stronger because I had to be, I’m smarter because of my mistakes, happier because of the sadness I’ve known, and now wiser because I learned.

Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates:

• Is it true?
• Is it necessary?
• Is it kind?

During our life long journey, it is important for us to speak strength into our soul. It is important for us to speak success into our inner being. Despite the hurt we may feel or the sadness we experience in life, often times we forget that the power to overcome life’s challenges is already inside us. If you feel lost or confused often, check to see if your heart and mind are working in harmony so will find peace.

MY TESTIMONY

Depression and grief may rise up within me from time to time, but I meditate on positive thoughts to overcome these negative feelings. Even though this time of the year is truly difficult for me, I’ve learned that no one can prepare you for the emptiness inside after losing a loved one. No words can comfort your heart after it is broken in many pieces. Often times, I look up at my mother’s picture and think about all of the positive memories that are carefully stored away in my mind and in my heart. Sometimes I shed tears. Other times I just pick up a pen and start writing.

Now, this is my testimony. What is your story or experience? It is important to allow yourself to feel and to express honestly. I survived throughout my journey because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me. I had to reflect on scriptures that are hidden in my heart in order to rise up above my problems, situations, depression, sadness, hurt, etc.

KEEP SHINING

Moreover, I plan to keep shining bright every day. How about you? Now, it’s important to note that the ways I keep shining may be different than yours on any given day, but the end result should be the same, we’re shining! Our lives should be an example and reflect positive vibes through the eyes of others. As we travel along this journey called life, we will experience some ups and downs. However, the way we respond to life’s challenges is the key to overcoming the obstacles that occur in our lives.

Here’s some positive ways to keep shining in life:

• Read God’s Word, pray and meditate.

• Smile and believe in yourself.

• Believe in the awesome person you’re becoming.

• Show kindness everywhere you go. Especially, to unkind people.

• Forgive people who don’t deserve it. Then, let it go.

• Acknowledge your patterns of stress and release them into the atmosphere.

• Move out of your comfort zone throughout your journey so you can grow.

• Allow yourself time to heal from life’s challenging moments.

• Be gentle and patient with yourself. Practice self-care routines.

• Love unconditionally. Find time for self-reflection and to write in your journal.

Furthermore, every situation in life is meant to be temporary. When life is going as planned, make sure to enjoy every moment. And when life is not going as planned, know that it will not last forever and better days are sure to follow.

• Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can.

• Become more aware of what’s really worth your energy.

• If you want to know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders.

As I get older, I realize that decisions become easier when your will to please God outweighs your will to please the world. I know that is a lot to accept at times, but it is truly a choice that we make each day. Know that your words, thoughts, and actions speak into your very existence throughout your journey. You don’t owe others nothing in life, but you owe everything to yourself. Examine your priorities and make the necessary adjustments in order to make time for personal growth. Remember, your actions will always reflect who you are so the closer you get to being who you are meant to be the brighter you shine!
