Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Today, I choose to have a positive attitude and look at my life in a new way. With this brand-new attitude, brings a positive mindset and beautiful blessings from on high.

As we travel along this journey called life, it is important to embrace the moment you’re in, which is a process called awareness. Well, what’s the best way to practice awareness? You start this process by training yourself to be mindfully aware of what is happening in your life right now, in this moment. Awareness balances thinking and reduces anxiety. Keep in mind, anxiety is focused on the past or the future and awareness is grounded in the present.

Attitude is defined as a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person’s behavior.

Awareness is defined as the quality or state of being aware; concern about and well-informed interest in a particular situation or development.

Expect the best out of every situation – Don’t complain or think negative. Instead, replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! In case you were wondering, I took some time off to gather my thoughts. This has been a stressful year to say the least. This week I want to focus on becoming grounded within.

During my research, I’ve learned that becoming grounded within can help you:

  • Clear your mind from negative thoughts
  • Recharge your energy
  • Strengthen your instincts
  • Calm your feelings and emotions

WARNING SIGNS OF BEING UNGROUNDED

Stay humble, stay grounded, remember what got you to that level and that’s hard work. – Tim Howard

Before learning how to become grounded in your life, it is important to learn and understand the meanings of grounded and ungrounded.

  • Grounded (adjective) – well balanced and sensible.
  • Ungrounded (adjective) – having no base or justification; unfounded.

Just like any major decision you make in life, becoming grounded within requires a level of commitment like no other. However, it’s important to know the warning signs of being ungrounded so you can make the necessary adjustments to your lifestyle.

Here’s a few warning signs of being ungrounded that you may experience:

  • Poor sleep patterns
  • Easily distracted
  • Daydreaming often
  • Constant fatigue
  • Over-think situations
  • Experience anxiety and perpetual worrying
  • Overly obsessed with your personal image

Keep in mind that there may be some overlap with other symptoms or health conditions which may cause a misdiagnosis.

Unfortunately, many of us struggle to overcome obstacles in life and don’t understand that the root cause is often times hidden within. CALM MIND

Most people appreciate a calm mind only when under pressure, when they are worried or when they need to focus. However, it is important for you to find effective ways to help calm your mind regularly, such as:

  • Practice mindfulness

  • Broaden your view
  • Try guided meditation
  • Reflect often and write in your journal

CALM BODY

Our bodies are made to move. Movement helps release tension, lift depression, and you get better sleep. Here’s some great ways to calm your body:

  • Fuel your body with healthy food options
  • Exercise daily (cardio, strength & stretching)
  • Try new yoga positions
  • Use effective breathing techniques
  • Go outside and get fresh air
  • Change your focus and environment
  • Listen to Music
  • Re-engage with like-minded people

CALM SPIRIT

 If there is a need to calm your spirit, then you must first address the root cause of your stress. Once you complete this task, then you are ready to find better ways to calm your spirit:

  • Learn how to regulate your breathing
  • Pamper yourself (Take a warm bath, read a good book, and get a massage)
  • Practice meditation 15 – 30 minutes per day
  • Focus on gratitude and find what you are grateful for
  • Setup a daily routine (Use a To-Do List or Checklist)
  • Write in your journal

FINAL THOUGHTS

Even though we know how important it is to feel more grounded throughout life, it is difficult to do without feeling less stress and more confident. As we go about our day-to-day lives, it’s best to find what makes you feel grounded and calm. We all are different and unique, but I do know that our minds, bodies, and spirit must be as ONE in order for you to feel complete.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Despite what is happening in your life and around the world, you are destined to embrace happiness within. Let’s depart from this place for a moment and begin to visualize our journey to happiness. When it seems like you will not make it, take some time to reflect on positive thoughts and some of your personal accomplishments. Always remembering that storms may come and go, but what matters most is that you make it through the storm without wavering your faith.  We have to start shifting our thought patterns in a positive direction so we can regain control of our inner being. After all, our inner being defines who we really are as a person.

HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE

To begin with, it’s important to note that we must realize and accept the fact that happiness is a choice that we must make every day. Now, let’s focus on these concepts that will help us embrace happiness within:

  • Have a positive outlook on life. It’s quite simple. What we think about most, we become. This will take a lot of effort on your part, but once you conquer it, you will be much happier.
  • Believe in yourself. Get to know yourself and always stay true to yourself. If you don’t believe in you, then no one else will. Do not be an approval seeker.
  • Set and pursue personal goals. Identify what you are looking for in life. Then, set some realistic goals and pursue them. This process will increase one’s self-worth.
  • Practice gratitude daily. Be grateful and appreciate the simplest things in life. Make time to reflect every day and count your blessings.
  • Live in the present. Realize you have control over the here and now. Happiness does not exist in the past or future. Happiness exists in the now.

Living in the present moment is the only way to true happiness. Once you make the choice to embrace happiness within, you will need to work very hard to reach your full potential. Just like any change one tries to make in life, it’s going to take a commitment and discipline to overcome obstacles throughout the process.

Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! Let’s begin this beautiful Sunday discussion on how to get engaged in God’s Word. Especially during this pandemic or any time of crisis, it is important to keep God’s Word in the forefront of our minds. As believers in God and Jesus Christ, we must schedule quality time to not only read God’s Word, but also to write down our personal thoughts about the verses read, determine how we can apply the verses to our own lives in 2020 and don’t be afraid to cross reference the information in the Bible Concordance.

PREPARING FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

Making time to read and study God’s Word is so important for your spiritual growth. God’s Word can help guide us in the right direction or make us rethink a situation before we pursue it further. Take a moment right now to analyze where you are today and then continue reading my list of suggestions that will help you prepare for your spiritual journey ahead.

  • Set a time to better engage in God’s Word and stick to your plan.
  • Gather your materials, such as Bible, Notebook, Journal, Pens, Highlighters, Dictionary, Bible Concordance, etc.
  • Designate a quiet space with no distractions.
  • You may want to play some soft music in the background to set a relaxing mood.
  • Make sure your study area is free of clutter and well lit.
  • Pray and meditate while studying God’s Word to open your mind and heart.
  • Speak to God often to strengthen your relationship and ask Him to direct your study time/spiritual journey.

Don’t be afraid to be creative. Be your own inspiration. After all, this is your spiritual journey. Make it as comfortable as you like, but also for growth purposes step out of your comfort zone from time to time to make it an unique and pleasurable experience as well.

BETTER ENGAGE IN GOD’S WORD

Our time spent reading Scripture, prayer, and meditation must alter us if we have truly experienced a spiritual encounter with God. After all, God has created us to interact and respond to His Word in multiple ways. We should all endeavor to engage in God’s Word throughout our lives and hold ourselves accountable.

Here’s five ways to better engage in God’s Word:

  1. Study – When we study God’s Word we are investing focused time in a passage word, character or theme. Study requires you to analyze the Scripture which takes concentration and focus. The primary goal of study is understanding.
  2. Devotional – The goal for devotional reading is application. Simply put, what the Scripture means to me. However, we must make sure this is not the only way we interact with Scripture or we risk losing the truth.
  3. Meditation – Meditation is the ability to hear God’s voice and obey His Word. During meditation it is important to fill your mind with Christ. The goal of meditation is reflection.
  4. Memorization – It is important to understand what Scripture teaches us so have God’s Word hidden in your heart and mind. Memorizing God’s Word helps us achieve the goal of discipline.
  5. Action – Clearly, we must be focused on doing what Scripture teaches. We must be changed and compelled into action, whether in our thoughts or our actions. Spending time in God’s Word must lead us to obedience.

So, as you can see, there are various ways to better engage in God’s Word. Keep in mind, you may not be able to engage in all of these ways each day but schedule your time to include all the areas of study, so you can have a better understanding of God’s Word. Remember, spending time studying God’s Word is our intentional determination to grow in our understanding and to strengthen our bond with Him. Even if you have not engaged in God’s Word in the past, take a leap of faith and start today.

In addition, confidence can bring about a high level of happiness and security knowing that you are fulfilling your destiny in life. Welcome back to Renew Inspiration! I cannot believe we’ve celebrated the 4th of July already. Where does the time go? Despite the positive mindset I try to practice daily, it’s been real difficult trying to keep hope alive. Hope is another one of those words that can be defined on a personal level and may change from situation to situation; or person to person. According to the Webster Dictionary, hope is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen; a feeling of trust.”

But what does hope mean to you? Do you hope for anything great on today or in the near future? When I think of hope, I think of beauty and positive vibes. Hope is like a beautiful flower that thrives on sunlight and water. In a spiritual sense, hope relies on your daily commitment to God’s Word, meditation, and prayer.

 Hope is seeing light in spite of being surrounded by darkness. Sometimes in life, hope is all we have to hold on to. Believe it or not, hope is a necessary emotion that helps us engage with life.   • Help others see the best in themselves.
  • Develop a daily journal writing habit to release negative experiences and emotions.

Many of us need hope to look forward to the future. As you can see, it’s important to embrace hope in all aspects of your life. Unfortunately, when a person has lost hope it can be hard to find motivation again. Remember, happiness and optimism cannot exist without hope, but hope can exist without happiness or optimism. If we fail to reach our possibilities in life, then we experience a feeling of hopelessness and despair.
